Query Carta investor data, fund metrics, and portfolio company information via MCP, then generate Excel reports, tear sheets, budget workbooks, consolidating financial statements, regulatory filings, and benchmark comparisons for fund administration and LP reporting.
Write actuals into an existing Excel budget workbook from Carta MCP — add/interleave Budget/Actual/Variance columns, a tag-view tab, or a vendor-view tab. TRIGGER: pull/fetch/get/retrieve/refresh/sync/add actuals for [firm/ManCo], interleave Budget/Actual/Variance, actuals by department/cost center/tag/vendor, add next month/period column, extend budget through [month], broken down by vendor, vendor summary/spend over time/vendors across [period]. NOT: pacing, "how are we doing", "budget versus actual for [period]", or variance-analysis queries (carta-budget-vs-actuals); new budgets (carta-create-budget); scenarios; consolidating P&L / balance sheet. NOT: pulling a stored ManCo budget from Carta (carta-fetch-budget) — this skill writes actuals into an existing workbook, not the budget itself.
Build what-if scenario columns on an existing Excel budget workbook — trim, growth, or additive layers (new fund raise, headcount/FTE hires, expansion). TRIGGER: what-if questions, "how would X affect next year's budget/P&L", model/simulate a scenario, impact of raising a fund or hiring, forward projections with timing sensitivity. NOT: new budgets (carta-create-budget), fetch-budget, actuals refresh, pacing, historical/consolidating financial statements (carta-consolidating-pnl / carta-consolidating-balance-sheet).
Analyze pacing and variance: compare YTD actuals against a budget workbook (read-only analysis, pulls actuals from Carta MCP). TRIGGER: "how are we doing", pacing, on-track, variance analysis, compare budget vs actuals. NOT: writing/refreshing actuals columns into the workbook (carta-budget-actuals), new budgets (carta-create-budget), fetch-budget, scenarios, consolidating P&L / balance sheet.
Interactive co-investor report from Carta SPA data with clickable portfolio drill-downs. Use for co-investor analysis or asking who invested in a specific portfolio company. Trigger phrases: "co-investors", "coinvestors", "who are my co-investors", "who else invested", "co-investors by stage/round", "co-investors on Aumni". Use instead: carta-explore-data for general fund/investment/portfolio data — this skill is specifically for co-investor ("who else invested alongside us") analysis.
Generate a consolidating Balance Sheet for all entities under a firm for a given month and write it as a side-by-side Excel tab with Assets / Liabilities / Equity sections and a Total column. Sourced from Carta MCP (firm/entity resolution + DWH SQL). TRIGGER when the user asks for "balance sheet of all entities of [firm] for [month]", a consolidating BS by entity, or to replicate the "Balance Sheet - consolidating" tab format for a different firm/period. Trigger phrases include "consolidating balance sheet", "BS by entity", "balance sheet of all entities". DO NOT TRIGGER for single-entity BS, P&L / income statement (carta-consolidating-pnl), new budgets (carta-create-budget), pulling Carta-stored budgets (carta-fetch-budget), refreshing actuals (carta-budget-actuals), pacing (carta-budget-vs-actuals), or what-if (carta-budget-scenarios). Also DO NOT TRIGGER for a single-fund / fund-level balance sheet or fund account balances as-of a date — use carta-explore-data for those.
