Use at the start of substantive work, and before editing a file, to check who else is active and which files other sessions are touching — so you don't duplicate work or collide. When more than one Claude Code session runs at once — your own parallel sessions, or teammates' — Continuity gives you a shared, live view of them. Use it proactively; the point is to avoid two sessions silently editing the same code.
The SessionStart snapshot already shows you a point-in-time view. Use these tools to refresh it during a session.
Before starting a distinct piece of work:
agent_list_active to see who else is working and on what.agent_report_focus with a one-line summary of what you're about to do,
