An idea qualifies as novel if it does ANY of the following:
llm-chat — External LLM reviewer via llm-chat MCP (model defers to LLM_MODEL env). Always ask the external reviewer for strict, high-rigor feedback.Given a method description, systematically verify its novelty:
For EACH core claim, search using ALL available sources:
Web Search (via WebSearch):
Known paper databases: Check against:
Read abstracts: For each potentially overlapping paper, WebFetch its abstract and related work section
Call the external LLM reviewer via mcp__llm-chat__chat. Always ask the external reviewer for strict, high-rigor feedback.

After each mcp__llm-chat__chat reviewer call, save the trace following shared-references/review-tracing.md. Write files directly to .mechanist/traces/<skill>/<date>_run<NN>/. Respect the --- trace: parameter (default: full).
npx claudepluginhub zjunlp/mechanist --plugin mechanistChecks novelty of research ideas by extracting core claims, searching arXiv/Scholar/Semantic Scholar, and grading each claim HIGH/MEDIUM/LOW.
Checks if a research idea overlaps with existing work by decomposing it into orthogonal angles, retrieving real results, and producing a proximity map highlighting collision risk.
Generate and rank research ideas given a broad direction. Use when user says "brainstorm ideas", "generate research ideas", "what can we work on", or wants to explore a research area for publishable directions.
